bpc news - January 6, 2011

Hey,
We are discovering, living and SHARING the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

Sermon Series
This Sunday we will be continuing our sermon series, MAN vs. Wild - Gospel Living. Go HERE for upcoming titles and texts.
Hope you can make it as we consider, THRIVING IN THE MIDST OF DECEPTION with the text from Matthew 7:13-23.
Community Meal
bpc Community Meal - THIS Sunday, January 9, 2011. Please plan to join us for a community meal and find out about our Discovery Group Options.
This will be a Pot-Luck (but not left to chance) meal - with last year's Life Groups being assigned various parts (click here to find out what to bring).
If you were not in a Life Group last round, bring whatever you would like (and make sure you get connected to a Life Group for this round).
Youth Ski Trip
We are doing a YOUTH Ski Trip for January 20-22.
We have an opportunity to have two nights in a mountain lodge, one full day of skiing (or snowboarding), snow tubing, fun and memories.Students will have to miss one day of school (Friday, January 21). This keeps our costs down, is a lot safer and much more fun.The cost will be $100 for skiing and $115 for snowboarding. Each student will also be responsible for one meal on the road. The group will leave on Thursday (1/20) after school and return Saturday (1/22) before supper.
The sign up deadline is THIS Sunday, January 9, 2011 w/ at least a $25 deposit.
Registration and release forms will be available again this Sunday - pick up at the Welcome Table or download from our website.
Unique Worship Experience
Sunday, January 16 we will have a UNIQUE WORSHIP EXPERIENCE. We will celebrate God's presence, love and Truth using different elements of worship. This will be a GREAT Sunday to participate in out of the ordinary approaches of worship : ) i am excited about how we can bring Glory to The Father in different, interactive and creative ways. Be excited with me.

train wreck to glorious

Well we are three months in and i am really enjoying our worship and community. i have been pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and relational our worship environment in the auditorium at Blythewood High School has felt.
We sing, praise, cry, laugh and have had good interaction during our worship time.

Sunday a week ago (December 12) was "Train Wreck Sunday." Anything that could go wrong went wrong. Our bass player got stranded in Atlanta because of a three-car wreck on I-85, our keyboard got unplugged as the band was getting on stage and all the pre-sets were lost, when i turned on my lapel mic, i actually turned it off, so when i turned it off after the sermon, i actually turned it on to create some major feedback during the "reflection song," then, i exited and forgot to return to do the benediction which threw off John (our worship leader) who could not figure out the rhythm/tune/melody of the last song and the drummer and electric guitar guys could not get him back on track... TRAIN WRECK SUNDAY!!

Then last Sunday (December 19) was one of our best worship times yet!! We had a full band with a bass player and four vocalist. David Poole shared an original song from the perspective of a shepherd which set up our monologue of a shepherd really well. The service ended with an incredible baritone version of O Holy Night by Dan Reyes. It was GLORIOUS!!

These past two weeks are such reminders that we live in a broken world, but God is at work and gives us a NOW (but not yet) taste of heaven. To God be the glory.

Fun Times for Everyone

We had a GREAT time at our first annual BPC - Trunk or Treat this past Sunday.

The hot dog lunch included incredible chili AND coleslaw. There were multiple types of chips and unbelievable homemade desserts (including oatmeal-raisin cookies).

THEN we had tons of fun with unique games that offered LOTS and LOTS of candy.

WOW!! Thank you Rachel Tefft (and crew) for pulling this off and helping us celebrate God's Transforming Love together : )

Good stuff - I love being at BPC.
